Neoliberalism explained by George Monbiot

June 16, 2016 By Useful Ideas Project Leave a Comment

George Monbiot

George Monbiot explained neoliberalism simply and succinctly at the 2016 Hay Festival. Listen to his lecture here.

In this accessible talk, Mr Monbiot answers the oft asked question: “what is neoliberalism?”.
He runs through a brief history of neoliberalism, explaining that neoliberal economics often passes without definition because it draws its power from anonymity.

He belives that the people behind the neoliberal project deliberately present neoliberalism as a neutral natural force – rather than an artificially imposed ideology.
